Have you had Swensen’s before?
Have you had Swensen’s at HOME before?

Well that’s what we’re here to find out! We want to find out if getting our childhood western food fix at home will taste as good as at the restaurant.

For this, we ordered the 'Family Set for 2' bundle which costs $45 (U.P $70). 'Family Set for 2' allows a choice of 1 side, 2 mains and 2 beverages. Super great deal! But the question is, is the food as great as it tastes when dining-in?

Mains: Fish & Chips

The first thing that comes to mind when anyone mentions Swensen’s (apart from the ice-cream), is the all-time favourite – Fish & Chips. You can never go wrong with Swensen’s Fish & Chips. The meal came in a nice red paper box packaging, and surprisingly, it wasn't soaked in oil. Inside you will find 2 large breaded fish, thick fries (lots of it!) and coleslaw. The portion serves just right for a single eater. Unlike some other Fish & Chips, Swensen’s breaded fish is always well cooked on the inside which lets you cut the fish without crumbling  the fish meat.

Mains: Seafood Arrabbiata Pasta

For the next choice, we selected the Seafood Arrabbiata Pasta. What we liked about this one is that it came in an aluminium tray container to keep the food warm while it was being delivered. The pasta was tangy in flavour, with a little spice to it. The spaghetti noodles were al dente and didn't soak up too much of the sauce. The fish was fresh and so were the mussels and prawns. It tasted just like how it would have - fresh from Swensen's kitchen!

Sides: Calamari Rings

There weren't many options to select from for the side dishes in the Family Set Bundle. We could choose from French fries, calamari rings, mozzarella cheese sticks and buckaroo wings - they are mostly all-time favourites for regular diners!

We went for the Calamari Rings as our sides. Although it came in the aluminium tray container as well, the food was a little cold. Nonetheless, it still tasted good! The batter was crispy and the calamari was cooked to the right chewy texture.

Beverages: Cookies N Cream & Chocoholic Milkshake

Last but not least for the beverages, we ordered the Cookies N Cream Milkshake & the Chocoholic Milkshake. There was nothing spectacular about the packaging but the drinks were super thick and creamy. We loved it and had that as our "dessert" in place of ice cream. It was as equally as sinful!

Overall, we felt that it was worth the deal for the Family Set Bundle. Without the deal, the food would cost approximately more than $70. It could have been a better deal if the bundle included ice creams and desserts as well!

Verdict: Despite a home delivery, Swensen’s managed to maintain the quality of the food sent to us and we definitely appreciated the good vibes. We would highly recommend everyone to catch the Family Set Bundle while the deal is still on!
